Inking Zine and Funny Story

Firstly, the more 'art' thing. I've made an inking zine, got all the pages done, now I just need to get back to school so I can print it out. I'd like to make a few more and maybe offer them on my website as tutorials, but on the same time I'd like to sell some on etsy.com - so, just a heads up for that in the future.

Secondly- funny story, not at all related, and it might be one of those 'you had to be there' kind of things, but whatever, I'll tell it anyhow.

My two younger sisters and I were at Wal Mart- Wal Mart always makes me really uncomfortable because all the crack addicts and welfare momma's shop there, and I just don't like being around those wannabe gangsters if I can avoid it.

Now, I had picked up a cute little pot holder and kitchen towel set on sale for 5 bucks, and while we were waiting in the (long) line, I gave my sister some cash and said;

"Brenna, I'm going to go get the car and I'll be waiting out front there. Hurry up and go through the line. Now remember, these soda's were buy one get one free, this was two dollars, this was two fifty, and this-" I point firmly at my pot holder set and say very firmly "This is on -fire-."

Now, I really had meant to say this is on -sale-, because to me it's very important to make sure that they don't charge you full price for things that are sale items. Needless to say, there was a pause and we all burst out laughing, so hard I couldn't even breathe, I had never said 'This is on fire' in such an assured tone, as if there could be no argument about it being on fire in the slightest. Ah... much fun.

Kalamari is Murder

Because it is. Made entirely for fun and for practice at illustrator. I am -really- starting to dig that program. Still learning lots of things, but I think I've come far enough to be fully satisfied with what's coming out of it. My only fear is that, when I try and buy Illustrator 2 it wont rawk my socks as much as illustrator 3 trial is rocking me now = ( Though, I can't shell out 500-1000 bucks or however much illustrator 3 is even for students... Tch.

Kala

This is a portrait of my younger sister, Kala (there are 3 of us) Brenna will come next. Kala is a bit of a rebel and a trouble child, but she's on the internet more often than not these days and I think that's a good thing (Can't be out vandalizing churches while you're updating your myspace, am I right?)

My second attempt at illustrator with some touches in photoshop, since I still can't figure out how to do some things in illustrator.

Hello Sweetie Contest

This is my contest entry for the Hello Sweetie contest over at DrawlGraphic.com - Drawl Graphic is a group of three really fantastic designers, all of them have really great work and galleries. The contest is for a Desert Recipe Book, it's going to be handbound and there's going to be about 60-80 copies.

I'm also really proud of this because it's my first attempt at Illustrator ever, and I did most of it in the new illustrator 3 trial and, I think for not knowing how to even pick colors, I did pretty darn good! I'm taking digital illustration this semester at MCAD so I know I'll be learning a lot more about illustrator- which is good because I simply love some of the things that come from people that are obviously using illustrator.

Avarice

Alright, I've decided to start this Sketch Blog to post things that aren't important enough to go through the motions of updating my (currently nonexistant) website. A lot of schoolwork, doodles, etc.

This is Avarice, my BE hunter from World of Warcraft- geeky, yes, I know.
